Lately, there has been a rise in the number of Productivity, Note Taking, To-do list, Calendar and just basically apps that do a mix of above-mentioned tasks in some combination. These Companies are mostly SAAS companies charging you a small monthly fee for using the app, but some of them do allow you to use them after paying a one-time fee.

Being a Techy Person, who enjoys using different productivity apps and tools to optimise my tasks, I got into this fad and was trying out new apps. Every week, I was watching youtube comparisons among the apps and reading articles to find the one that will work for me. I was wasting more time finding the perfect app than I would save by using the app. All this while I was also feeling good about it thinking that after I find the perfect app I would be so productive and organise my day so much better.
Three weeks into it and I was tired of hopping apps and looking for the best one. None of the apps had quite everything that I wanted and each one had some benefit over the other in some way. I was confused and not feeling good about wasting so much time anymore.
Then one day I read this quote in a Newsletter by James Clear that made me re-evaluate what I had been doing.

“More effort is wasted doing things that don’t matter than is wasted doing things inefficiently.
Elimination is the highest form of optimization.”

It clicked something in me and I deleted all to-do list apps from my phone and laptop cancelled the one I was subscribed to. I started using the simple Apple stock reminders app. It does Everything you need, it is simple and best of all it is free.
It is Crazy how the best solution has always been there on my MacBook dock and the home screen of my phone and I just looked away. I have been using the app for a week now and I just realised that this is all I need to keep a check on my tasks. I don’t need any of those fancy apps to get my things done.
The Apple Reminders app does not distract you from what needs to be done, no unnecessary features and gets the work done and it’s free.
